I came to Hong Kong in 2008. Since then, every year I’ve celebrated my birthday with a tram party. So this must be at least the 10th Ding Ding party.
There’s a limit of 30 people on the party tram. In the 1st year, our office only had 10 staff, so I invited my 2 boys, my wife and a couple of friends. Now we have 40 staff, and they all want to join the party. It has now become the unofficial annual “office party”, so we may need to hire a 2nd tram next year.
The most remarkable tram party was last year. I turned 50 and some friends flew in from overseas as a surprise. They were all wearing masks and hopped on the tram at different stops, every stop was a mini-surprise.
I love taking the tram to meetings. it is a nice way to relax, to have some private time. I am proud that I managed to convince local colleagues to do the same. They hesitated at first, they prefer taking taxi or MTR. Then they realized it’s actually more efficient to travel by tram from Admiralty to Central. They are now used to it.
