I think the tram is very iconic for Hong Kong. The first time I came to Hong Kong, I told myself I had to take a tram ride.
I love observing different architecture styles on the tram. Starting from Sheung Wan - a local old neighbourhood with lots of shophouses - and then the tall office buildings of Central and Admiralty. My favourite part is Quarry Bay, where you pass by the funeral home and an old model public housing estate.
The tram gives you a higher eye level to appreciate these buildings. I love old buildings in Hong Kong, they are living heritage. You can see people using these spaces, walking to a market, working in offices. It is very different from Macau where old buildings are for tourists.
I now moved to Yau Ma Tei. My biggest dream is to have the tram in Kowloon as well!
